Summer School Call Out for Applicants
Yarn Theatre Company is a new, grassroots creative initiative based in Ballycastle, offering opportunities for young people to explore drama, storytelling and performance. This project is self-funded - no grants, no backing, just a belief that creative opportunities should exist for everyone. Are you curious about acting but not sure where to start? Would you like to learn from a top casting director - right here in Ballycastle?
This summer, Yarn Theatre Company is offering a rare opportunity to train with an industry expert and take your first steps into the world of performance.
Dreaming of acting? Yarn Theatre Company gives you the chance to train with the best.
Join us for Yarn Theatre Company’s first-ever drama and performance Summer School, a full-time five-day workshop facilitated by Casting Director, Julie Harkin. Julie has over twenty years’ experience in TV and film casting, working on hit shows such as Misfits, Industry, I May Destroy You and Dune: Prophecy.
The workshop will delve into the intricacies of character study through storytelling and improvisation. Accompanying Julie throughout the week will be creative drama practitioner Abbey Craig. The students will work alongside Julie and Abbey to devise and direct an original piece of theatre to perform for friends and family at the end of the week.
Places are limited. Applicants are required to submit an application email and, if successful, will be invited to an informal interview with Julie Harkin either on 22nd or 23rd April 2025 at Yarn, Ballycastle.
Interview Dates: 22nd & 23rd April 2025.
Summer School Dates: Monday 30th June - Friday 4th July. Successful applicants must be available to attend every day. Monday - Thursday, 9 am - 5 pm and Friday, 9 am - 9 pm.
Cost: Yarn Theatre School is free to attend, but applicants will need to organise their own travel to and from the venue. Lunch and snacks will be provided each day
