About
Join artist Kathryn Warden for a full-day workshop on portrait painting with oil paints. Through demonstrations and guided practice, this workshop will cover the core fundamentals of drawing and painting a portrait, with an emphasis on learning by doing.
Participants will work from a life model during the session, and across the day, you’ll be guided through the process of completing a portrait painting, developing observational drawing skills, painting technique and a deeper understanding of colour and colour mixing.
The workshop places particular focus on light and shadow, proportion and form, while encouraging individual expression to emerge naturally.
All materials will be provided, though participants are welcome to bring their preferred oil paints if they wish.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists.
There will be a break for lunch. Tea, coffee and a snack will be provided.
