About

As summer edges towards harvest, join Ballycastle Film Club, Yarn and Ursa Minor for a special Lúnasa screening of The Field.

The Field is Jim Sheridan’s powerful adaptation of John B. Keane’s play, set against the landscape and tensions of rural Ireland.

The evening opens with pre-film commentary by local writer and musician Ewen Friers, followed by a harvest bite from Ursa Minor to enjoy while watching the film. A gathering for anyone who loves good stories, good food and the ties between people and place.

Lúnasa at Yarn

This event is part of a weekend of Lúnasa celebrations presented by Yarn and Ursa Minor. Lúnasa is an ancient Gaelic festival marking the beginning of the harvest season: a time of feasting, music, storytelling and gathering with neighbours to celebrate the first fruits of the year. As the long days of summer begin to soften, this weekend offers a chance to come together around the table, raise a glass, share a bit of craic and enjoy the abundance of late summer before the season turns.
