This month’s screening: East Is East
Salford, 1971. George Khan is determined to raise his family the traditional Pakistani way. His children, however, have other ideas. Abdul and Tariq aren't keen on arranged marriages, Saleem is more interested in art school than engineering, Meenah refuses to fit the mould and Sajid would rather disappear into his parka than face the world.
As tensions build within the Khan household, their mother Ella is left trying to hold everyone together.
Funny, sharp and still as relevant as ever, East Is East remains one of the most beloved British films of the last 30 years.
Bring a drink and settle in. Whether you're revisiting a favourite or seeing it for the first time, all are welcome.
This screening is supported by Film Hub NI through the BFI Film Audience Network, using National Lottery funding.
